Tattoo Aftercare Instructions
Congratulations on your new tattoo! Proper aftercare is crucial for ensuring optimal healing and preserving the quality of your artwork. Please follow these instructions carefully:
1. Wash Your Hands:
Always start by washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water to prevent any bacteria from coming into contact with your tattoo.
2. Remove the Second Skin Wrapping:
Carefully remove the second skin or protective wrapping as instructed by your tattoo artist.
3. Clean Your Tattoo:
Wash your tattoo gently with lukewarm water and unscented mild antibacterial soap, such as Dial or Dove. Make sure to wash off all plasma (the clear fluid that may appear) from the tattooed area. This usually stops 6-10 hours after receiving your tattoo.
4. Pat Dry:
After washing, gently pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel or a clean, soft cloth.
5. Apply Lotion:
Using your fingertips, apply a small amount of unscented lotion such as Cetaphil, Aquaphor, Aveeno Baby, or Lubriderm.
6. Maintain Cleanliness:
Always keep the tattooed area clean and free of bacteria. Wash your tattoo before applying lotion each time.
7. Repeat the Process:
Follow this cleaning and moisturizing routine twice a day for 2 weeks.
8. Let It Breathe:
Keep your tattoo fresh and open to air; do not cover it with bandages after the initial wrapping is removed.
9. Avoid Water Activities:
For 4 weeks, avoid swimming, hot tubs, or any prolonged submersion in water.
10. Protect from Sunlight:
For the first month, avoid prolonged direct sunlight and tanning to prevent fading.
11. No Scratching or Picking:
Do not scratch or pick at your tattoo, as this can cause scarring and loss of detail.
12. No Touching:
Do not let anyone touch your tattoo to minimize the risk of infection.
No Liability Clause: The studio is not responsible for any complications that may arise from improper aftercare, including but not limited to infection, scarring, or loss of detail in the tattoo. By following these aftercare instructions, you acknowledge that you are responsible for the care of your tattoo during the healing process.
